In the fitness industry it’s not uncommon to hear competitors and coaches preach “Don’t compete for the experience, compete to WIN!”.
There’s no denying that having a winning mindset is strongly encouraged and can be advantageous to push you toward the finish line. However, as a bodybuilder it’s important to remember that it’s the PROCESS that helps you achieve the final OUTCOME on show day. Therefore, we want to emphasise how important it is to live in the moment during your comp prep and embrace the triumphs and struggles that come with each and every day. It’s inevitable that show day is going to be glorious and celebratory, however don’t become so hyper-focused on this single day that you forget to EXPERIENCE the ~174 days that come before it, and ultimately make the entire journey worthwhile.
Let us know, are you process driven, or outcome driven? Has this changed over time for you?
