Liquid vs Powdered Egg Whites

Enjoy your high-protein omelettes AND the extra cash in your wallet!

Egg whites are awesome – hands down! Being an excellent source of protein which is both high-volume and satiating, it’s hard not to cook up an omelette on the regular! However, with regular purchases of liquid egg whites can come larger grocery bills… UNLESS you discover an alternative which is half the price!

Introducing… POWDERED EGG WHITES! As you can see per 25g of protein serving, powdered egg whites are ~half the price of liquid egg whites. Plus, the only difference is the hydration component of the product, as both share almost identical nutritional profiles in terms of macronutrients AND micronutrients (namely various B vitamins). Furthermore, egg white powder has a longer expiration date, doesn’t need to be kept in the fridge, thus making it easier to store and transport for long periods of time!

How to make an omelette from powdered egg whites:
1.) Combine 30g of egg white powder with 200ml of room temperature water
2.) Thoroughly blend in a tall cup or shaker with a stick blender, or alternatively use a blender or nutribullet (DO NOT USE A FORK)
3.) Pour blended mixture into a medium-hot, non-stick pan. The omelette doesn’t need to be scrambled or flipped.
4.) Flavour with your favourite spices, vegetables, and/or cheese
5.) Once small air bubbles start to rise to the top of the omelette place a sealed glass lid on the pan and removed from the heat for 2-4 minutes
6.) Using a plastic flipper remove the omelette from the pan onto your plate and enjoy!

We’ve personally been using powdered egg whites from VPA Australia for five years now and have happily never experienced a bad egg – let us know if you’re the same!
