Don’t diet on a whim.
When someone decides to undertake a new challenge, they usually train, prepare, and build the skills required to succeed. But with dieting, people often skip that process entirely.
They jump into a deficit on a whim, without consistency, structure, or mental readiness, and it rarely ends well. The outcome? A worsened relationship with food, rebound weight gain, frustration, and in some cases, disordered behaviours that linger long after the diet ends.
Dieting is a skill, and like any skill, it needs a strong foundation.
Too often, people chase a physique they haven’t yet built. They diet to achieve a lean, muscular look, but haven’t spent the time required in a growth phase to build the muscle first. The harsh reality is: you can’t diet your way into a body that hasn’t been built yet.
Most importantly, if your goal is to feel better in your own skin, but you’re not there before the diet… you likely won’t be there after either.
So before you start a dieting phase, ask yourself:
Is it truly necessary?
Am I mentally and physically ready to do this well?
Or am I just chasing a short-term fix?
A successful diet is structured, intentional, and grounded in preparation, not impulse.
