Have you ever noticed how adherence to a plan is a common discussion amongst amateur athletes, but not professionals?
This is because adhering to a plan is a bare minimum expectation when a professional bodybuilder is striving to excel at the top.
Adhering or not adhering to a plan is an enormous competitive advantage in the amateur ranks… whereas in the pro ranks…
EVERY athlete is expected to be executing their plan at a bare-minimum.
It’s about the intelligence and the strategy of the plan itself, and how much effort is applied in every aspect.
A coach or athlete should never be questioning their willingness to execute.
When the genetic elite are competing against each other it would be insanely foolish to throw away easy points just because one person is following their plan and someone else isn’t.
This is one of the biggest differences between amateur and professional athletes at the top of their respective fields: consistent adherence to an intelligent and sustainable plan.
If you are genuinely serious about being a successful competitor, then topics of discussion between you and your coach should be about the plan itself, not the adherence to the plan.
If your goal is to be a professional athlete, yet you are repeatedly battling an ability to adhere, then you need to be realistic about your expectations when comp day strikes!
